Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal may join hands

It could be one of the most interesting partnerships in Indian cinema. Actors Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal may work together very soon, it is reliably learnt from Kollywood sources. The latest buzz is that the two may work together on the remake of ‘A Wednesday’ that featured actors Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher.

Kamal is said to be in the process of finalising the director for this remake that he will work on even before ‘Thalaivan Irukindran,’ which was expected to be his next project. Reports in late 2008 said Kamal had approached Mohanlal for ‘Thalaivan Irukindran.’

Once news about the remake venture came out, the industry believed that Kamal had approached actor Mammootty to play the character of the police officer played by actor Anupam Kher in the original film. Now, information on the actor approaching Mohanlal for the same role has surprised many.

Mohan Lal

Kamal will play the character that Naseeruddin Shah played.

‘A Wednesday’ is about the police commissioner of Mumbai Prakash Rathod who is going to retire the next day. Just before retirement, he recalls the most challenging case tackled by him — that of a call he gets from an anonymous person one Wednesday, who gives information on bombs planted across the city, and demanding the release of militants. The story unfolds into a beautiful narrative of a common man.

“It was Rajinikanth and Mammootty in ‘Thalapathi,’ so would it be Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal now?’ – film buffs can’t seem to wait for an official announcement.
