Director Saket Chaudhary follows up his successful Pyaar Ke Side Effects with yet another battle of the sexes romantic comedy. For the sequel, Chaudhary has more at stake. The budget's higher as the film's a joint production of Balaji Motion Pictures and Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd.
The cast includes two bigwigs, namely director-actor-producer Farhan Akhtar, flying high on the success of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Vidya Balan, hoping to get back to winning ways after the failure of Ghanchakkar. Sid (Akhtar) and Trisha (Balan) are a young couple whose life is turned around with the arrival of a baby. The trailer shows Trisha reprimanding Sid like a kid, whether it is for being noisy around the baby or not being a good daddy. Meanwhile, Sid on the advice of his friend (Ram Kapoor) to maintain peace in his marital life has resorted to lying to his wife. When Trisha asks "If she is looking fat?" in a black dress, his response is that she looks "perfect". The line is more telling given the media's obsession with Balan's weight.
How the dynamics of a relationship change once marriage and parenthood enters into the frame seems to be the focus of Shaadi Ke Side Effects.
