Gul Panag (January 3, 1979 ; Chandigarh, India) is a critically acclaimed Bollywood actress and former beauty queen who has competed in the Miss Universe pageant. Her notable films are Dhoop , Dor and Manorama Six Feet Under.

Gul Panag hails from an Army background.Her father Lieutenant General H S Panag, is in the Indian Army and is at present Army Commander, Central Command. She has a younger brother , Sherbir Singh who is a nationally ranked Skeet shooter and is at present studying at her Alma Mater, The Lawrence School Lovedale.

Coming from an army background Gul Panag is a native of Chandighar. She started her education in Patiala and since then has moved a lot, she has done most of her education at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Chandighar and also at Lawrence school in Ooty.

Besides this she has also studied at International School of Lusaka. Gul was always known for her dimples.

She did her Bachelors degree in Mathematics from Punjabi University Patiala and Masters in Political Science from Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Gul Panag won the much coveted title of Miss India Universe in ’99 by out beating 25 other beauties, and was the eight consecutive Miss India to place in the semi-finals of Miss Universe Pageant. She was apparently a huge favorite among the 85 contestants of the pageant. In the semi- final interview round she was paired with Miss Mexico, she charmed the audience with her eloquence and good jokes, thus managing to walk away first place.

Gul Panag won Miss India in 1999 and she also won the miss beautiful smile awards Miss Universe 1999 pageant. She worked in films like Jurm and Dhoop and also the serial Kashmeer (STAR Plus), but she got her fame with 2006 film, Dor in the role of Zeenat. The 2007 film, Manorama Six Feet Under, inspired from Roman Polanski's Chinatown, earned her fabulous reviews. She has a big line up of films this year starting with Summer 2007. Gul appeared on the front page and a photo shoot for Maxim (magazine) in September 2008.

After ending her reign she moved on to do modeling and ad films. Prior to this she had done one TV soap in ’03 named ‘Kashmir’. Her debut film was Parth Arora’s movie Dhoop in ’03 co staring with Sanjay Dutt.

Gul didn’t get her fame till her movie Dor in the role of Zeenat, before which she did Jurm, and Dhoop her debut.

Her latest film in Bollywood was Manorama Six Feet Under which did not do particulary well at the box office.
