Siddharth Roy Kapur (born August 2, 1974) is an Indian business person, film producer and the managing director of Disney India. After completing his Bachelors in Commerce from the Sydenham College in Mumbai, he obtained his MBA from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS). His father is Punjabi and mother a Jew and former Miss India. He hails from a film background. His mother choreographed dance sequences and his younger brothers Aditya Roy Kapur and Kunaal Roy Kapur are well-known actors.

Siddharth Roy Kapur has been with UTV since 2005, after an MBA from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute and successful stints at The Procter & Gamble Company and Star TV across India, Dubai and Hong Kong in marketing leadership roles. In his first role with UTV as senior vice president, he headed the Marketing & Communications division across motion pictures, broadcasting, television, animation and corporate. In this role, he led the marketing efforts responsible for taking the homegrown Hungama TV to a leadership position in the competitive kids' broadcasting space, which had been earlier dominated by multinational channels like Cartoon Network, POGO, Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. Siddharth led the marketing efforts behind the cult classic Rang De Basanti and the cult sleeper hit Khosla Ka Ghosla, both of which started new trends in the way movies are marketed in India. He led the marketing efforts on many successful projects such as Parineeta, Taxi 9211 and Bluffmaster. In his next role, he assumed responsibility for the revenues function at UTV Motion Pictures and was responsible for distribution and syndication worldwide, in addition to his marketing responsibilities.

In January 2008, Siddharth took charge as CEO of Motion Pictures for UTV, responsible for all aspects of creative, development, production, marketing, distribution and syndication. In this role, he has led the studio to great heights, with an unparalleled slate of movies such as Jodhaa Akbar, Fashion, Aamir, A Wednesday!, Dev D, Kaminey, Raajneeti, Udaan, Peepli [Live], No One Killed Jessica, Delhi Belly, Rowdy Rathore, Paan Singh Tomar, Barfi! and many more. In the time Siddharth has led the Motion Pictures division at UTV, the studio has emerged as one of the top production and distribution houses in the country in revenue and quality of content, with four UTV productions in the last six years selected as India’s nominee to the Academy Awards, numerous awards and accolades including Filmfare Best Film awards and National Awards, and an annual slate of movies that has grown from four to 16 productions a year (12 Hindi and six South productions).

After the integration of UTV into The Walt Disney Company India, The Walt Disney Co. announced that managing director Ronnie Screwvala will step down on 30 June and Siddharth Roy Kapur, currently managing director of Disney UTV’s studio business, will lead the company’s India operations. Siddharth Roy Kapur will become managing director of Disney India on 1 January, 2014 and Screwvala will assist in the transition until 30 June, 2014, following which, he will pursue his entrepreneurial goals and devote more time with his foundation called Swades, the company said in a statement. Siddharth Roy Kapur started his career in brand management with The Procter and Gamble Co. and then worked with STAR TV in Hong Kong, Dubai and Mumbai in various leadership roles. His tenure at UTV and later at Disney UTV spans more than eight years, first as a member of the core team that launched the successful kids channel Hungama TV (which Disney bought in 2006) and then working closely with Screwvala to build UTV Motion Pictures, which he has headed since 2008.

Siddharth took on the role of Managing Director for the studio business. Barfi! was his first movie as a producer for Disney UTV productions, which was followed up with Heroine, ABCD: AnyBody Can Dance, Kai Po Che!, Ghanchakkar and, more recently, Chennai Express, Satyagraha, The Lunchbox and Shahid. The list of upcoming releases from the studio include P.K., Jagga Jasoos, Kick, Fitoor, Shaatir, ABCD 2, Khoobsurat, Pizza, 2 States, Highway, Filmistaan and many more. From 1 January 2014, Siddharth has become the Managing Director of The Walt Disney Company India. He is now responsible for all the businesses & operations of the company in India including Studios, Consumer Products, Media Networks and Interactive.

Siddharth is a two-time divorcé. Siddharth knew his first wife since he was a boy. Siddharth's second wife was a television producer. The businessman had previously married his childhood friend and then a producer, whom he divorced in 2011. Siddharth separated from his second wife in 2008, and the divorce came through in the end of 2011. On 14 December 2012, he married Bollywood actress Vidya Balan in a private ceremony in Bandra, Mumbai.

Hema Malini Preparing For Ahana's wedding. The day for Hema Malini's younger daughter Ahana's wedding is around the corner. And 'Dream Girl' Hema Malini is fully into preparing for the event. Says the radiant mother of the bride-to-be, "The wedding is on February 2. We're all so excited. I don't feel as if I am giving away another daughter in marriage. Instead it feels like two sons are being added to my family. Both Esha and Ahana's partners are so loving, caring and affectionate towards both me and Dharamji." Hema has double reason to celebrate, as 'Sholay' has opened in a new 3D avatar. Says Hema Malini, "I saw parts of the 3D version. Dharamji has seen the whole film in 3D. We both love what they've done. All those bullets flying into the audiences' faces and horses galloping out of the screen adds to the excitement of the original. See, we have to move on with the times gracefully."

The yesteryears' marquee queen who has done two other films 'Andaz' and 'Seeta Aur Geeta' with the 'Sholay' director says, "'Deam Girl' and 'Basanti' are the two names by which fans call me out. These are almost like my surnames. My mother didn't allow me to keep our family name 'Chakravarthy'. But Ananth Swamiji who discovered me for the screen gave me the epithet of 'Dream Girl'. And that stuck. Later Ramesh Sippy made me play Basanti. And that became the other name I am known by to this day." Speaking about the enduring popularity of the Basanti character, Hemaji says, "I guess it's the chirpiness of the character that appealed to people. I did two other very important films of my career with Ramesh Sippy. But its 'Sholay's' Basanti that has the most recall value." Hema's role in Ramesh Sippy's 'Seeta Aur Geeta' is also her political party the BJP's leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee's favourite. Recalls Hema, "When I met Atalji for the first time he wouldn't look at me. He seemed very embarrassed and uncomfortable. I wondered why until someone from his team told me he's a big fan of my film 'Seeta Aur Geeta'. Atalji has seen it 25 times."

It was Atalji's 89th birthday on December 25. Hema attended the party and recited poetry for her eminent fan which moved him to tears.Says Hema, "Everybody was reciting poetry for Atalji so I thought why not me? Incidentally, I wore a saree gifted to me by Lataji for Atalji's birthday. I even clicked a picture of me in the saree and sent it to Lataji. She and I go back a long way. I am very fond of her. Until recently I didn't know she was so fond of me." Hema says it wasn't easy shooting for 'Sholay'. "We shot in the blistering sun in a place near Bangalore where there were no hotels or rest houses. I was in full make-up with wigs and costume riding on my tonga. It was tough."

Speaking of her enduring passion for wigs the yesteryear's box office queen says, "I could never do without wigs. During those days we actresses were required to sport all kinds of hairstyles, from French cuts to curly hairs. For Gulzar's 'Meera' I needed straight falling hair and for 'Sholay' I needed a more curly look. I couldn't subject my real hair to all this strain. Hence the wigs. Once I ceased to use wigs I gave them all away...dozens and dozens of my wigs to fans hairdressers and transvestites."

Uday Kiran, Telugu Film Actor, Commits Suicide

Cut-throat competition in the Telugu film industry may have claimed the life of Telugu film actor Uday Kiran.
33-year-old Kiran, who was known to portray romantic roles, was found hanging in his flat at Srinagar colony in Hyderabad past midnight on Sunday. Uday Kiran, who had acted in 19 films, was not getting any good offers as an actor and was reportedly unhappy about the way his career was progressing. Uday began his career with a bang with a small-budget film "Chitram" directed by Dharma Teja in June 2000. He went on to deliver a few hits and soon got the tag of 'lover boy' in Telugu cinema. In 2003, Uday got engaged to Chiranjeevi's daughter Sushmita, which was called off within a few months. It was alleged that Uday was not accepted by some of Chiranjeevi's family members, including his brother Pawan Kalyan.

Uday Kiran's downfall began soon after this incident as no producer was willing to offer him roles. The fact that Tollywood's mega star Chiranjeevi kept him at bay made producers hesitant in signing Uday. The actor, as a result, had to take up any project that came his way. His last film "Jai Sriram" released in April last year.
According to sources, when Uday took the extreme step of committing suicide, his wife Vishitha was not at home. Uday had made some calls to some of his friends but when they called him back, he did not respond. Police sources said that his friends found him hanging when they rushed to his house. They rushed him to Apollo Hospital at Banjara Hills where the doctors declared him brought dead. "There was no reason for him to commit suicide. He had enough money. If it was a question of his career not progressing well, he had time on his side," said VVK Murthy, his father.

Uday Kiran and his father were not on talking terms for the last six years as Uday Kiran felt his father was allegedly misusing his finances. Murthy had retired as a government employee and chose not to get involved with his son's life after the fall-out. Uday Kiran got married to Vishitha in 2012 which was attended by most people from the film industry. Vishitha reportedly told the police that Uday had been in depression for some time because of his film career. Telugu filmmaker Dharma Teja, who launched Uday Kiran with "Chitram" in 2000, said the late actor was a very passionate actor. "Uday and I started our careers together with 'Chitram'. It was a very special film for both of us and we enjoyed its success together. He was a passionate actor and I sensed it a few days after we started working on our film," Teja said

For his 2001 hit film "Nuvvu Nenu" which was directed by Teja, Uday Kiran got the image of a soft and romantic hero. For his role in this film, he had even got the Filmfare award as best actor. All the subsequent films that Uday Kiran did were not up to the expectations of the audience and his ratings as an actor fell.
Uday Kiran hoped that his career would revive with his Tamil movie "Poi", but it remained stagnant. With "Jai Sreeram" last year, Uday Kiran tried to show that he could do tough roles too, something that would appeal to the masses but even this attempt fell flat. Banjara Hills ACP Ashok Kumar during preliminary investigation said that they came to know that Uday Kiran had been in a state of depression for the past one month. According to sources, Uday had messaged his wife saying, "I Love You" before he committed suicide.

In a shocking incident, Telugu cinema hero Uday Kiran died by committing suicide. Initial reports say that the actor died after taking the extreme step in his flat at Srinagar colony.
